Hello, and new to the group. Is anyone experiencing 12V battery issues with the new hybrid Palisade? I've had to jump start mine twice in the past week. Walk out to vehicle, completely dead. I thought it might be the passkey, but it's not. I disabled it for a few days and still had a dead battery this morning. Has anyone taken theirs to a dealer with this issue?

Yes, twice, but the car has actually been dead three times now. The first time I called Hyundai Bluelink Road Service. They sent a young kid in a panel van. Not a flatbed tow truck that I requested. He looks under the hood... no battery... says he can't jump it! "Why not? The book says you can." He calls his manager..."We're not allowed to jump any hybrids." And leaves! WTF! I call the dealer (a second time) and get voicemail...again. Call my salesman. HE calls Service, "They'll send a truck, he says."

Wait an hour for the "15" minute trip. Get not a phone call, but a text saying they cancelled the trip because... You guessed it: "Can't jump Hybrids." Argh!!! Call the salesman again... he calls the service manager again, and I get a step-by-step from the salesman talking to the manager on how to CLIMB OVER the 3rd row seat that was up, of course. Then find a 2" square panel/plug at the VERY bottom of the hatchback door. I finally managed to get that pried off, and Salesguy says poke around in there and find the release. Didn't say what kind... It is NOT the cable release we all know. It is a LEVER, far left, that has to be pushed even FARTHER left of the hatch to pop open about half an inch. Climb back out, fully pull open the hatch. Salesguy says, "Pry open the foot-square panel on the left side of floor." Finally find the battery. My little 4 amp trickle charger wouldn't charge the battery.... kept hearing a clicking sound from the front of the car. Unhook the ground cable, and then it would charge up. Took 30 hours.

Took it to the dealer on Monday morning. Waited half a day... they found nothing! Said, "Well, drive it every few days. If it dies again, don't recharge, have it brought in to troubleshoot." "NO!" Gas was $4 a gallon at this point, and I said, "I'm not going for a scenic drive every day unless they pay me!" Went back home, had enough errands for the next 10 days that it was fine. Saturday again, go out to start... completely dead. Called the salesman directly, screw Service. "I'll make sure it is a flatbed truck. Ok. Hour later, Flatbed shows up and I thinking "Yea!. it will already be dead when they get it to troubleshoot." I go inside to get my wallet after giving fob to driver, expecting wheel dollies to get it out of the garage. I hear it start up! "What did you do?" "Oh. I just used my 2500 amp battery pack to start it." "Noooooo" I wanted it dead for them to see it!" "Well, now I can just drive it onto the flatbed."

I get in the truck, we get to the dealer, and THEN he tells me HE LEFT IT RUNNING TO MAKE SURE HE COULD DRIVE IT OFF! Sigh! I leave it for 5 days, same as before. I had told them that online, I saw that if you had the Karr Security system plugged into the OBDC port in a "Y" configuration, updates don't go through, but keep trying, draining the battery. Supposedly, they checked that, but I saw over several days that the same update was still trying to load. I keep it on a trickle charger now when not driving, and the updates finally finished. I will consider permanent wires attached to the terminal box under the hood for a charger hook-up. What A Farce.

After I took mine to the dealer, they tested the 12-volt battery for five hours and said there was no issue. I called Hyundai and they told me that the issue had to be documented three times before they would replace the battery under warranty. I've not had any issues since (with the battery, anyway), but you may want to call Hyundai and get it documented.
